Tale of the Cave is a web comic based on the indie game Cave Story. The comic follows Quote, a somewhat amnesiac robot who is trying to get out of the cave he woke up in, and Bat, his new pet bat and wannabe best-friend, who after trying to get Quote to kill him, gives up and guides him through the cave system instead. The events that occur in the comic are loosely based on events in the game, but the details may differ, hopefully resulting in hilarity!

Quote is the main character. He woke up one day in a mysterious cave, and is trying to figure out where he is, and why.
Initially a monster getting in Quote's way, Bat has taken on a role of guide to the system of caves.
Sue lives in the Mimiga village. Her appearances can be decieving, as well... That is all that is known right now...
Toroko lives in the Mimiga village as well. Her past is... unclear, but complicated. She supposedly adores Sue as if she were her own big sister.
Misery is a witch who works on the side of evil. Her magical abilities are strong and varried, but her primary skill is to summon bubbles.
Balrog is... well, we're not sure what he is. He works for the forces of evil, and more directly, the witch Misery. He's strong and kind-hearted, but if you anger him, you'll likely feel his wrath.
Igor - A master gunman by profession, he had an unfortunate... accident, and is now a rampaging monster. It is currently unknown whether he can be restored or not.
King is the leader of the Mimiga village. Though he has no royal blood, his leadership skills are as unmatched as his skill with the blade.
Did you know...[]
That the comic's name "Tale of the Cave" comes from a direct translation of Cave Story's original Japanese title, "洞窟物語" (or "Doukutsu Monogatari")?
